With the end of 2015 looming we headed to our first event in the new car. After what turned out to be a fairly dry day when everyone expected it to rain and get very wet, the car performed fantastically. Before the first stage of the day the team had not really tested the car in anger, only enough seat time to get comfortable and be able to drive it.
After going with a full dry slicks all round on the car for the first stage, the pairing found a lack of grip on the damp muddy surface a major problem, as you can see from the pictures this led to a moment going through a tyre wall (quite literally). The damage caused was only a headlight and looked a lot worse than it actually was!
After getting a new set of wet tyres for the rest of the event, everything went just as planned! Each stage the crew got more confident and was able to push the car closer to it limits, at the end of the day the event was a test and certainly showed the potential of the car and driver!
After finishing a long day through the muddy conditions the team come home to find that there were a fantastic 14th O/A and 2nd in the class for 1600cc cars, this was never expected from such a good entry of over 75+ cars and 17 in class!
The entry for the next two rallies Rali Cwm Gwendraeth and Tour Of Epynt have been put in, the car will have a few more tweeks and its ready to get back out on the stages to start the 2016 season with some hopefully championship contending results!
Until next time....see you on the stages!
